What are your favorite types of sushi?

I’ve recently started making my own sushi; when you buy the supplies in bulk, it’s a cheap and healthy lunch that I can bring with me (I’m a full-time student, and I was resorting to buying fast food every day when I was stuck at school for nine hours with no food).

So far I’ve only made California rolls and simple maguro (tuna) rolls. What are your favorite types? What do you like to put in your sushi, or what kinds do you like to order at a sushi bar?

I always order a sashimi platter when I go out to sushi and don’t even look at the price because I know it is going to rack up my bill! I specifically LOVE EEL, ESCOLAR, SALMON, MACKEREL & TUNA BELLY but will eat just about every piece of sashimi known to man (although that EGG ONE is a bit odd… but oh well! ha ha!)

I love salmon, so much salmon consumed

Along with eel, crab, tempura, california rolls, spicy tuna, etc.

    California rolls
    monkey brains
    caterpillar rolls
    spider roll
    unagi roll

As long as it doesn’t have salmon, I love any sushi with either avocado, fried blue crab, or unagi. Something with all three would be <wonderful>!!!

One that packs well- ( I would be concerned with raw sushi packaging for lunch… refrigeration makes the rice dry out and no refrigeration causes spoilage….) is a Futo Maki, with shredded carrots, tamago ( omelette) Dried gourd , shitake mushrooms, and cucumber… you could add imitation crab stick as it is pretty long lasting without spoilage.

Avocado and mango rolls are great too- the avocado will brown a bit if you dont dip in lemon juice first, but won’t taste any different.

Actually- odd, but spam, yes spam, and pineapple rolls are really good and keep well…

    Enjoy!
