What school supplies do you take to college?
I’m starting college in the fall and I was wondering what supplies to take the first day. I would like feedback from someone with experience, not just hear-say. Thank you!

I’m a third year college student. On the first day, all I ever take with me to each class is a prong-pocket folder, a one subject notebook, a pen, and the textbook(s). Most professors only go over the syllabus on the first day but will require you to fill out a notecard with important information (especially at smaller schools). Some will automatically dive into the texts or at least give a short description of each. You can sometimes earn brownie points for having them with you.
If you’re taking a math class, bring a calculator with you. Some professors will give a preliminary diagnostics test to see where the class is at with the material. It is typically ungraded, but some will let you use a calculator if you have it. Don’t use your cell phone as a calculator.

A notebook, pen, and paper for taking notes. Your first year is probably all general classes with tons of people in it. A laptop is even better so you can surf the net when class gets boring. Or play video games in my case.

A positive attitude and a pencil or two. You will need books, notebooks when you get there. The library usually has pc’s for students to use to write papers , etc. If you are studying math or science you will need a good calculator $100 or so.

Everything below also a good attitude and the first week or so they will tell you what to get so paper, pens and pencils will be good the first week. Good luck

Well, make sure you pack a nice new set of crayolas and a shiny new apple for your teacher.
Give me a break and grow up.

just take a binder with paper in it… don’t waste money buying all this stuff you might NOT need for the class. 1st day in class the professors will tell you what you need… so just take a pen pencil and a folder with paper the 1st day write down what you’ll need in the class and then buy it. That’s my only advice.. you’re going to be spending a lot of money on supplies!! OH and also buy used books and sell them back for the same amount of money. But if you’re rich watever lol. Have a fun semester! : ) and talk to your counselor!

In addition to the pens, paper, notebooks, etc., I found that a clipboard is really helpful for taking notes in class, b/c the desks are usually smaller than a normal sheet of paper! (they have fun colors of clipboards now, it doesn’t have to be your dad’s gross brown clipboard with the monster metal clip.)
also, bring as many rolls of quarters – for the laundry machines – as you can. repeat after me, quarters are like gold… quarters are like gold!!!

you’d be suprised to know you don’t need much.
you’ll be getting a syllabus for all your classes, and you MAY get notes (depending on the professor) so take some paper (or a book/pad) and A PEN, be sure to bring a pen. professors usually ask you to write your email and phone numbers, etc..
take some cash (some colleges make you pay for an ID, and you need that to get in on a daily basis)
that’s about it. (make sure you wear clothes and shoes) some professors don’t let you sit in undressed

I would take the following:
Notebook
Pens/Pencils
Assigned book/books
Book Bag/backpack or one w/wheels
Money
Water
Gum or mints…
And most important: Your class schedule

The first day, all you really need is one nootbook and a pencil. That way you can write down all the items you’ll REALLY need. Most intro/freshman classes don’t actually teach the first day. They distribute the syllabi and go over class expectations.

Everyone has really good ideas. I usually bring a notebook, a few pens, and the textbook to the first day of class.
It is also really helpful to have a small stapler (like the pocket-sized kind). I end up using mine all the time and its less than $2.
Good luck!
